On Thursday 27 March, pupils from the FLSco programme and their families transformed the canteen into a cultural crossroads for the third International Breakfast, organised as part of Modern Languages Week.
By 8am, the atmosphere was buzzing with colourful dishes carefully prepared by the children and their parents, who were proud to present a speciality from their own country. Hot or cold drinks, sweet or savoury, this breakfast brought together the tastes, scents and colours of many cultures, united in a spirit of sharing and conviviality.
It was not just a time for tasting, but also a real educational event, in which languages, cultures and family traditions were highlighted as riches to be passed on. A fine illustration of the spirit of the FLSco programme: helping children to integrate into the French school system while cultivating their plural identity.
Each participant was invited to write a word in his or her native language, creating a fun and educational multilingual word wall that everyone enjoyed exploring.
It’s a moment that strengthens the link between the school and families, showcases the achievements of each individual and highlights the richness of differences. Thanks to the dedication of the two FSL teachers, it became an eagerly awaited and inspiring event, a great way of bringing diversity to life and building a school that is open to the world.
A warm congratulations to the teachers and all the participating families for their commitment and enthusiasm.
One thing is certain: the world is an even more beautiful place… around a shared table!
FLSco (Français Langue de Scolarisation) is a programme that focuses on the language learnt and used at school. The learning goes beyond the linguistic aspect of the language, by also focusing on the cultural norms of the school which, precisely, enable academic success. This section welcomes around 60 students every year, from nursery school to secondary school.
