Our kindergarten

A French specificity

Kindergarten is not a day-care service, but a real educational program delivered by qualified, certified teachers. It is organized to stimulate young children’s imagination and meet their basic needs, including play, discovery, development of physical skills and rest.

Children start kindergarten at age 3 with socialization activities and interactive lessons designed to develop their natural abilities and stimulate their desire to explore the world.

Play is used to discover the world, promote language acquisition, learn mathematics, develop motor coordination, self-discipline and self-confidence.

Our teachers are trained to teach in a structured, fun and exciting way, accompanying your child through every stage of his/her development.

The curriculum - Five areas of learning

Mobilize language in all its dimensions

Affirms the primordial role of language in kindergarten as an essential condition for the success of all children. Stimulating and structuring oral language, on the one hand, and gradually introducing children to the written word, on the other, are priorities in all areas.

Acting, expressing oneself, understanding through physical activity

These programs enable children to explore their potential, develop and refine their motor skills and master new balances. They help them build an image of their own body and better situate themselves in space and time.

Acting, expressing oneself, understanding through artistic activities

The different activities enable the development of interactions between gestures, sensations, the imaginary world, sensitivity and thought.

Acquire the first mathematical tools

Kindergarten gradually leads children to discover numbers and their uses, and to explore shapes and sizes. To stimulate children's thinking, the teacher confronts them with concrete problems that are within their reach.

Explore the world

Aims to develop children's initial understanding of their environment and encourage them to ask questions. Building on their initial knowledge based on their own experience, kindergarten implements a program that enables them to apprehend, understand and order the world around them.

Introduction to plurilingualism

Fun, educational activities taught in French, German and English: a great way to learn more.

French education abroad is based on multilingual and multicultural education. From kindergarten to 12th grade, students learn new languages and discover multiple cultures.

During their three years in our nursery school, children discover the world through the languages taught: French, German and English, as well as the different languages spoken in their families. At the same time, they are made aware of cultural diversity.

Awakening to linguistic diversity covers two main areas: firstly, an awakening to the plurality of languages, and secondly, an initial discovery of two or even three languages, the learning of which helps lay the foundations for a coherent linguistic pathway linked to elementary school.

Children are regularly exposed to short, varied periods during which the teacher brings them into contact with the modern languages being taught. Little by little, these moments of playing, listening, moving, rehearsing, speaking and singing become familiar and expected moments in the life of the class.

By creating an environment conducive to exchange, our teams progressively guide the student through appropriate activities to develop oral skills, whether in articulation (pronunciation of sounds) or prosody (intonation, rhythm, accentuation).

The French language

Teaching is entirely in French, and follows the curriculum certified by the French Ministry of Education as part of an internationally recognized educational offer of excellence.

German

A strong emphasis is placed on German, with up to 2 hours of teaching per week in small groups.

A German teacher is dedicated to the kindergarten, and works in all classes at different times of the day: at reception, in motor skills or in small groups to work on vocabulary.

English

English is also taught from the 2nd year of kindergarten, with 1 hour of instruction.

This enables the school to offer a diversified and comprehensive education to prepare children to become multilingual and open to different cultures.

My child doesn't speak French

A gentle way to learn French

Integrating a French school can discourage families of non-French nationalities from making this choice. Our school welcomes children of all nationalities, whatever their mother tongue.

For students with little or no command of French, we offer a program of reinforced learning in French called FLSco(Français Langue de Scolarisation). The program starts in Grande Section. Children are grouped into small classes, allowing the teacher to individualize the work as much as possible.

This enables children to make rapid progress. Personalized teaching continues in elementary school to reinforce learning.

Project-based teaching

“Living together” – A project promoted in each class and at interclass events.

At any time of the year, teachers develop a wide range of projects, including artistic, seasonal and cultural ones. Children learn at their own pace, together or independently, in a workshop with the teacher or an individual activity. We use digital technologies to exchange information and discover the world.

Every year we celebrate Saint Martin’s Day, Saint Nicholas’ Day, Christmas, Candlemas, Carnival and Spring Festival, and parents are of course welcome to join us.

Day care

Classes end at 2:30 pm. However, it is possible to stay longer at school by enrolling in the day-care center.

In partnership with AWO DUS GmbH, daycare services are available from Monday to Friday, 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm (outside school vacations), on our premises.

AWO is an association specialized in personal services, and a partner of many schools. Thanks to its qualified educational staff, AWO is able to look after young children and offer them age-appropriate activities. Two services are offered during the school year: a year-round childcare service and an occasional childcare service.
