A Breakfast that brings the world together

A Breakfast that brings the world together

On Thursday, March 26, pupils from the FLSco programme and their families gathered for the 4th edition of the International Breakfast, organised as part of the Languages Week.

From the early morning, the atmosphere was lively and cheerful. Gradually, the tables filled with dishes from different countries, carefully prepared by the children and their families. Sweet and savoury foods, hot and refreshing drinks – this breakfast offered a chance to discover traditions from around the world while enjoying time together.

Beyond the pleasure of tasting and sharing food, the event also had a strong educational purpose. It gave students the opportunity to highlight their home language, their background and their cultural traditions. This is precisely the aim of the FLSco programme: to support children in finding their place within the French school system while respecting and encouraging the richness of their individual journeys.

One particularly appreciated moment was the musical sharing: each child was invited to present a song in their own language. The different melodies created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, filled with curiosity and attentive listening.

Events like this strengthen the connection between school and families, build trust and remind us that diversity is a strength for the entire school community. Thanks to the dedication of the two FLSco teachers, this gathering has become a valued and eagerly awaited event over the years.

A heartfelt thank you to the teachers and all the families for their active participation and enthusiasm.

Because meeting, sharing and learning together remains one of the most meaningful ways to grow.

The FLSco Programme in Brief

FLSco (French as a Language of Schooling) supports students who are developing or strengthening their French skills within a school environment. The programme focuses not only on language learning, but also on understanding the rules, expectations and practices of school life, helping each child to succeed and integrate confidently.

Each year, the programme welcomes around 60 to 70 students, from kindergarten through to secondary school.
