The LfiSV at the National School Sports Day

The LfiSV at the National School Sports Day

On Wednesday, September 25th, the Lycée français international Simone Veil took part in the National School Sports Day, organized by the UNSS (Union Nationale du Sport Scolaire) and supported by the AEFE.
The aim of this day is to highlight the role of sport in students’ lives and to introduce them to the activities offered by the school’s Sports Association.

A futsal match to kick things off

For the occasion, our PE teachers, Mrs. Walter and Mr. Van Hamme, organized a futsal match in the gymnasium. Futsal is a variant of football played indoors on a smaller pitch with fewer players. This format emphasizes skill, speed, and teamwork.

Several middle school students, from Grade 6 to Grade 9, laced up their shoes and stepped onto the pitch. The atmosphere was both relaxed and motivating, and everyone enjoyed this collective moment.

This match also had a clear purpose: to present the activities of the school’s Sports Association, which will offer futsal and climbing starting in October.

The spirit of the UNSS

Founded in France, the UNSS is the federation that organizes school sports in middle and high schools. It promotes simple and accessible values: the joy of practicing sport, team spirit, commitment, and respect. Every year, it offers competitions, meetings, and special events like this one, enabling young people to discover new disciplines and share experiences together.

This first sporting event of the year set the tone: moving, discovering, and living together moments that enrich school life. Upcoming futsal and climbing training sessions will continue this dynamic.
