Students from the International American Section visit the International English Library
In April, students in the elementary school’s American international section went there for two afternoons.
It was the perfect outing for Language Week!
On arrival, they were greeted by a team of volunteers who offered the students lunch in the library before starting the tour.
The librarians guided our students on how to borrow books, research topics and become members.
Students looked for books related to current Non-Linguistic Discipline (NLD) themes, but also publications of personal interest.
With books in hand, our students settled down in a quiet area to read or enjoy a book read by one of the volunteers.
Surprised by our students’ high level of English, the librarians were curious to discover the forms of learning they were able to benefit from.
Founded in 1946 by a British regiment, the library boasts over 26,000 publications, from the classics to the most contemporary, and is managed by an international team.
Its aim is to strengthen the community around the English language and culture.
If you would like to become a member, please note that annual membership costs 7 euros per child, 14 euros per adult, with the possibility of borrowing up to twenty books at a time.
The library also serves the community in many other ways, from reading books to toddlers on Saturdays to running a debate club for secondary school students.
We would like to thank our parents who accompanied the students on this visit, as well as the library volunteers.
