Music in the service of solidarity: an unforgettable concert at the LFISV

On March 23, for nearly 2 hours, classical and less classical music was enjoyed by almost 200 parents and children. The Lycée français international Simone Veil organised a solidarity concert with an important mission: to create a solidarity fund to support the families of students experiencing financial difficulties. Pupils from these families would therefore be able to take part in school trips like the rest of their classmates.

Despite a capricious day, by 3.30pm it was already full to bursting. Among the audience, the children performing at the concert were as excited as their parents. For almost 2 hours, the school choir and string ensemble, young and old, showed how music can bring joy to everyone’s heart.

Pupils aged 7 and over responded to the school’s call to play the piano, violin and cello, enchanting the audience to the rhythms of Frédéric Chopin, Johann Sebastian Bach, Edward Grieg, Friedrich Seitz and other famous composers.

Along with the music, the hip-hop group representing the after-school club put on a superb show that had everyone dancing in their seats.

The programme culminated with an Alumni of the school gracing and delighting the audience with two works by Frédéric Chopin: “Étude op.25 and Franz Liszt: “Étude d’exécution transcendante” op. 139 Nr. 12.

An uplifting story, a success for both the organisers and the public. The school is delighted to continue this initiative and to show that, with a little investment, children can benefit from the same things as their colleagues.
