The first outdoor chess tournament organised by LfiSV was a great success, bringing together around fifty primary school students of all ages and skill levels.
In a friendly yet competitive atmosphere, nearly 50 games were played throughout the afternoon. Concentration, strategic thinking and sportsmanship were on full display, creating memorable moments for both participants and spectators.
After several closely contested matches, the final saw Victor, (CM2) , face Phillip, (CM1) . Their first game ended in a stalemate, requiring a second match to determine the winner. After an impressive display of skill and determination, Victor ultimately emerged victorious and claimed the title of this inaugural tournament.
The overall standard of play was particularly impressive, thanks in part to the many students who regularly practise chess through LfiSV’s after-school activities programme.
Beyond the results themselves, the tournament provided a wonderful opportunity for students to come together around an activity that encourages critical thinking, patience and sportsmanship. Following the enthusiasm generated by this first edition, LfiSV is already looking forward to making the outdoor chess tournament a regular highlight of school life in the years to come.
