Warsaw is one of the cities selected for the 2022 European Games.
We’d like to introduce you to this splendid and spacious city.
Warsaw has been Poland’s capital since 1596.
It is located on the Vistula River.
With over 1.8 million inhabitants, it is also the country’s largest city and the 8th largest in the European Union.
Warsaw is also a city with a world-famous history, shaped by the scientist Marie Curie, the astronomer Nicolas Copernicus and the composer and pianist Frédéric Chopin.
It was named “European Capital of Sport” for 2008.
The national stadium was built to host some of the matches of the European Football Championship in 2012.
The main sports arena is the Tamier hall, which is used for all types of sports held indoors.
There’s also a swimming center with an Olympic-sized pool.
Warsaw boasts monuments of extraordinary beauty: the Palace of Culture, the Mermaid Statue and the famous Old Town, which has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1980.
Poland’s culinary specialties are delicious: Pierogi (ravioli), Barszcz (beet soup) and Bigos (sauerkraut stew with meat).
Among the teams we’ll be hosting for the European Games is the Lycée Français de Varsovie.
In 2019, the school celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Today, it welcomes over 700 students of 45 different nationalities.
We look forward to welcoming the team and sharing special moments with our Polish colleagues.
