Theater workshop for Abibac 1st-year students

Last Friday, the 1st-year students took part in a theater workshop at the Junges Schauspielhaus.
They put themselves in the shoes of actors by putting themselves in everyday situations, such as getting out of bed.
Lama Ali, our drama teacher, guided and encouraged them in this exercise, bringing out the talents in each of them.
Then, in groups of five or six, they got together to perform short sketches based on movements given by Lama, such as “breathing”, “playing a horned god” or “doing a monotonous action”.

To round off the activity, photos of Edward Hopper’s paintings were distributed, and we shared what the works evoked in us.

The piece

Rausch is a silent play consisting solely of choreography and pantomime, directed by Gregory Caers.
The story follows the daily lives of five characters who live in a glass labyrinth.
They repeat their activities every day until a mysterious and strange character disrupts their routine.
After this incident, the characters are unable to re-establish their previous daily gestures, their normal lives.
Nevertheless, they are now happy.
While there are many comic moments, it is ultimately a reflection on reality.
The play awakens a desire to escape from the daily grind.

Thanks to all those involved in the project, students, accompanying teachers and Lama.
