On Thursday, November 27, students from the American International Section celebrated Thanksgiving, one of the most iconic holidays in North American culture. Gathered around a meal prepared with the help of many parents and students, they discovered — or rediscovered — the culinary, historical, and cultural traditions that make this day so special.
This immersive experience went far beyond sharing a festive meal. It allowed students to deepen their understanding of a foreign cultural heritage, explore its origins and development, and experience firsthand the international openness that lies at the core of their section.
A project fully aligned with the mission of the American International Section
At LfiSV, the American International Section welcomes around 80 students from elementary through high school, supported by a team of six teachers — two in the primary grades and four in middle and high school.
The section provides enhanced instruction in English language, literature, civilization, and American history, while fostering the development of a truly bilingual and bicultural mindset.
Its goals are wide-ranging:
• to develop strong bilingual proficiency, both written and oral;
• to help students gain a deeper understanding of American cultural norms and perspectives;
• to encourage openness, curiosity, and an international outlook;
• to prepare students for demanding academic pathways, including the BFI (baccalauréat français international) and studies in English-speaking environments.
The great results achieved last year by our first AIS graduating class reflect the excellence of the program and the commitment of both students and teachers.
A warm thank-you to all the parents and students who helped prepare this wonderful meal.
We wish all students in the American International Section a year filled with new discoveries, success, and meaningful experiences!
