Preparing the younger generation for environmental challenges is an essential mission. With this in mind, last month the CM2 A and B classes took part in a workshop led by a Blockblocks Cleanup volunteer, highlighting the impact of plastic pollution on the oceans and their ecosystems. The aim? To raise awareness in a fun and engaging way, while imparting essential knowledge.
The workshop gave students the opportunity to explore the devastating effects of plastic waste on the environment, health and biodiversity. The role of rivers, with a particular focus on the Rhine, was highlighted to emphasize the interconnection between local actions and their global repercussions.
Bino, a drop-shaped mascot, accompanied the pupils on their adventure. Thanks to it, they discovered why clean water is essential for the planet and the life that thrives there.
The pupils participated in an exciting quiz, reviewing the diversity of aquatic life, from microscopic organisms like phytoplankton to majestic blue whales. They learned how to measure the impact of plastic waste, and in particular how long it takes to degrade, reinforcing their understanding of environmental issues.
A commitment for the future
This workshop marked the beginning of a series of initiatives for these budding young eco-citizens. Other actions will follow, consolidating their role in protecting the environment. By combining fun and technical learning, we’re giving them the means to become committed players in the preservation of our planet.
Together, we can build a sustainable future, where every gesture counts!
