There are a thousand and one ways of learning a language! In FLSco (Français Langue de Scolarisation) with Emily, CP pupils new to French discovered the album ‘Petit escargot rouge’, by Rascal. As well as learning the vocabulary of the story, they were given the opportunity to make original prints using vegetables and black gouache to reinvent a forest with very graphic outlines. Not forgetting the red snail!
The workshop provided an opportunity to learn a number of different technical skills, as well as freeing up the pupils to express themselves and their creativity.
The pupils are now practising ‘narrating’ the story on their own, with plans to tell it to the youngest nursery pupils next week. Another great way to build self-confidence and develop language skills!
