I know, it’s the police!

I know, it's the police!

On Monday December 5, the children in Grande Section enjoyed a visit as important as it was instructive: two police representatives spent just over an hour with them, introducing them to the world of the police.

In a playful way, the two policewomen introduced the children to their uniforms, and since they were very curious to see what hides in each little pocket, they presented one by one the objects they carry with them every day.

The session continued with a presentation of basic traffic rules: how to cross the street, appropriate places to cross, and good habits for crossing at traffic lights.

The policewomen took it in turns to impress the children with their equipment, while at the same time being impressed by the knowledge the children had already mastered.
Almost all were familiar with the 110, the meaning of each traffic light color, and the fact that the police protect and help people while punishing “the bad guys”.

Learning is good, but playing is better!
After presenting the most important points, the children left the classroom for a play session.
A street was improvised and the children were invited to cross it respecting the rules and traffic lights (symbolized by the two policewomen).
Later, a puppet appeared and gave them a foretaste of what the children would have a few days later: a visit to a puppet theater.

On Friday December 9, the pupils in the 2 Grande Section classes went to see a puppet show organized by the policewomen who had come on Monday.
The show told the story of animals and reminded them of the traffic rules they had learned the previous Monday.
The show ended with the song “Ampelindianer”, learned in class.

Collaboration with the police will continue throughout the school year, with further meetings and the passing of the pedestrian permit at the end of the school year.
