Have you ever taken part in a public speaking competition?
Eleana, Agathe and Robin from CM2, Alyae, Maïlys and Benoît-Marie from 4ème, and Hillig, Seconde certainly have!
They were selected to represent LfiSV at the semi-finals and final of the 12th Central and Eastern Europe Public Speaking Competition, held at the French School of Berlin on Thursday, 21 May 2026. They competed alongside students from other French international schools across the region, including Zurich, Lausanne, Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin.
The CM2 students were challenged to deliver a speech on a topic of their choice within a set time limit. All of them rose to the occasion and gave their very best. Eleana was selected to represent the school in the final and earned a well-deserved second place.
For the 4ème and Seconde students, the competition took place in two stages. First, participants delivered a speech on a topic of their choice. Those selected for the final round then had to prepare a speech on an assigned topic. The 4ème students debated the question, “What is the best day of the week?”, while the Seconde students explored the theme of “Disobedience.”
All of our students delivered remarkable performances.
Maïlys was the only LfiSV student to reach the final round in her category. Her confident stage presence, natural ease with the microphone and mastery of her subject impressed both the judges and the audience, earning her a superb second-place finish.
Their accompanying teachers, Claudine Chardon, Eric Damien and Odile Guégan, were equally impressed by the quality of all the performances. It was an inspiring and enriching experience for everyone involved.
