On Thursday 28 November, Thanksgiving Day in the United States, the AIS section celebrated this emblematic holiday with a unique event, combining American traditions, learning and conviviality. Over 73 students from CM2 to Terminale, accompanied by 5 parent volunteers, including our AIS Council delegates, and the section’s 4 teachers, gathered together for this special day.
The 4ème pupils kicked off the festivities with a presentation on table manners, reminding us of the importance of politeness and respect when sharing a meal. Pupils in 3ème showed their creativity by writing an inspiring toast, which was read to the assembly. They also prepared original topics for conversation, which were placed on the tables to encourage rich and lively exchanges.
The audience was captivated by the Seconde students’ presentations on the history of Thanksgiving and its traditions in the United States, which gave everyone a better understanding of the importance of this celebration of gratitude and generosity. Finally, each student wrote a message of gratitude on a piece of paper. These messages will be assembled to form a chain of gratitude, a visual symbol of what Thanksgiving represents.
Lastly, everyone enjoyed a delicious meal together, savouring traditional Thanksgiving dishes, including a perfectly prepared roast turkey. Families also brought their own specialities, adding to the diversity of the meal.
