Le Cirque puts on a show at Maternelle

As you enter the kindergarten, there’s never a dull moment in the corridors and classrooms.
Periodically, the scenery changes, from the decorations on the classroom doors to the posters lining the walls.

In the run-up to Carnival, Maternelle was immersed in the world of big tops, fantasy and illusion – the circus.
Since the circus was the theme chosen for this year’s carnival, the teachers carefully prepared tons of activities devoted to the subject and, of course, decorated their classrooms to get everyone in the mood.

When the circus comes to town, all children look forward to discovering it.
Learning circus vocabulary helps children better understand and appreciate the world of the circus.
Numerous books, in French and German, were read to the children and the images explained.
The work continued with language sequences and activities in the form of various games, memory games, puzzles, etc.

The children’s creativity and fine motor skills were put to good use as they cut and pasted paper, drew and colored different characters.
Tangram was also an excellent teaching aid for learning and enriching vocabulary.

The kindergarten classes went even further, creating a book entitled L’Abécédaire du cirque.
They worked and assembled images for each letter of the alphabet, wrote each word, and in the end made a film that we warmly invite you to discover.

The adventure reached its climax on Carnival Day, when all the children turned up at school in colorful costumes representing, for the most part, a character from this new and wonderful world they were so happy to discover or learn about.

We thank everyone and look forward to the next theme, which the kindergarten will be proud to present.
