The “Dreck-weg-Tag” day, organised by the PRO DÜSSELDORF association in collaboration with the city’s environment department and waste collection company AWISTA, is a major event for the Düsseldorf community.
Despite the efforts of the City of Düsseldorf and AWISTA to keep the environment clean, there is still too much trash. For over 20 years, this day has aimed to help solve the problem by encouraging citizens to take part in a major clean-up operation.
This year, almost 12,500 people took part in the event, demonstrating the community’s commitment to protecting the environment. The results of the day were considerable: almost 22 tonnes of waste were collected, representing a decrease from the previous year. This drop is encouraging, testifying to people’s growing awareness of environmental issues.
Among the participants, 34 primary schools, eight secondary schools and 31 crèches took part in the event, underlining the importance of raising awareness of the need to protect our environment from an early age. The CM1-CM2 A class once again contributed to this day of ecological solidarity. Although they didn’t collect as much waste as usual, they were proud to be one of the 42 schools taking part and showed that with a little time and a lot of responsibility, they can achieve their goals.
“Dreck-Weg-Tag” is much more than a simple cleaning operation. It embodies our collective commitment to a clean and sustainable environment, and reflects the growing awareness of our ecological responsibility. Let’s continue acting together to keep our city beautiful and clean!
