An inspiring exchange and immersion in the heart of the legal profession with a UN specialist

On Tuesday 14 January, the Terminale students enrolled in the Law and Major Issues of the Contemporary World option, along with other high school students interested in the legal field, had the opportunity to meet Kathleen Castelein, a lawyer by training who is currently working for one of the United Nations agencies.

This meeting allowed students to ask numerous questions, both about the various university programs and courses related to law, and about the diversity of careers in this field.

Ms. Castelein captivated her audience by sharing anecdotes from her professional career, highlighting the concrete realities of working within an international organization. She also discussed the challenges associated with her profession, while emphasizing the enriching opportunities it offers.

Finally, she delivered a motivating and inspiring message to the students present. She encouraged them not to be afraid of their higher education choices, to dare to explore different paths, and to seize the opportunities that come their way. She emphasized the importance of mastering foreign languages, an essential asset in an increasingly globalized world, and the need to demonstrate commitment, perseverance, and open-mindedness. “With these qualities, many doors will open for you,” she affirmed, emphasizing the crucial role of self-confidence and the ability to value one’s skills.
