A day in Bonn to celebrate the end of the AbiBac cycle

To celebrate the completion of their three-year Abibac journey, the Terminale students spent a full day in Bonn, accompanied by Ms. Langenscheid, Ms. Michels, and Ms. Chabal.

The day started with a city rally through the centre of Bonn. Everyone had to work hard to solve some rather tricky riddles. Along the way, we learned interesting facts — for example, about Beethoven and Haribo.

After walking quite a bit, we were happy to enjoy a picnic on the beautiful lawn in front of the university, soaking up the sun. Naturally, there was plenty of laughter too!

Next, we headed to the Haus der Geschichte museum. There, we took a quick look at the photo exhibition “Skaters Before and After the Fall of the Berlin Wall.”

We then visited the exhibition “Coming to Terms with National Socialism,” which was so thoughtfully curated that some of us would have gladly stayed longer.

But another highlight awaited: a guided tour through the museum’s storage facilities. For the first time, we were allowed into the vast basement area and learned how various objects are acquired, restored, stored, and catalogued.

After the museum, we had a bit of time to wander through the streets of Bonn.

In the evening, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at a Turkish restaurant chosen by the students.

Although the return journey was quite a rush (we really had to sprint!) and we only got back to Düsseldorf at 11 p.m., the good mood never faded.
This end-of-year trip will remain a cherished memory for everyone!
