Led by Mrs. Alice Germa, our Economics and Social Sciences teacher and PRIO coordinator, this initiative comes hot on the heels of the successful high school Cine-Club, combining cultural insight with lively debates. Now, our younger learners have their own flavorful and educational experience.
A Workshop Designed Like a Real Class
Launched in spring, the cooking course aims to foster students’ autonomy, teamwork, precision, and curiosity. In their first session, they tackled a fun yet technical recipe: chocolate chouquettes.
Behind this sweet indulgence lies a well-structured learning journey that blends theory, hands-on practice, and reflective discussion.
Each session follows a clear and purposeful structure:
-
Introduction to objectives and hygiene-safety rules
-
Learning key techniques: choux pastry, piping with a pastry bag…
-
Collaborative group preparation
-
Theoretical lesson on glycemic index (GI) and healthy food choices
-
Final (well-deserved!) tasting and reflections on the experience
A School That Engages All the Senses
Beyond culinary skills, this workshop helps students explore transversal themes around health, balanced nutrition, concentration, and following instructions. It’s yet another way to learn differently, emphasizing practical engagement and personal investment in a caring, motivating environment.
The cooking workshop aligns perfectly with our school’s educational philosophy: nurturing curiosity, joy in learning, openness to the world—and building real-world skills.
Congratulations to all the students for their dedication, and special thanks to Mrs. Germa for this fantastic initiative!
