A cycle of careers conferences for secondary school pupils

a cycle of career conferences for secondary school pupils

In the second year of high school, students make their first choices for the first year of high school: selecting their three specialties.
As a result, they have to project themselves into the future by asking themselves about their tastes and skills.
At this age, most of them still have only a vague idea of what they could do.
And their knowledge of the different branches of higher education and the professions and sectors of activity is still partial.
To help them discover the world of work in a lively, concrete way, Madame Boursault has this year initiated a series of videoconferences on careers, organized on Friday mornings in coordination with Mr. Bourgeois for Seconde classes, during the AP hour.
This initiative complements the Personalized Guidance Help provided by Madame Larsen, SES teacher and Information and Guidance Resource Person (PRIO).

Between November 2020 and June 2021, 17 speakers took part: most of them based in France or Germany, all motivated by this project, from the real estate, airline, energy, justice, agriculture, pharmaceutical, video game, retail, healthcare and NGO sectors, they enthusiastically described their backgrounds, their professions, their missions, their responsibilities within companies or higher education establishments, and the challenges they face on a daily basis.
Nor did these representatives of the professional world hesitate, with humility, to give the reasons or circumstances that led them to this profession in all transparency.
In the end, our second-year students realized that the common thread running through all these people was their motivation for their work and the satisfaction they derived from it.
They also realized that not all career paths are linear, and that a career is made up of successive evolutions!

These testimonials and advice were a great source of enrichment and inspiration for our students.
We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the speakers and hope that this cycle will be repeated next year.
