The European PES Games are officially open!

After months of preparation, the moment has finally arrived: the European PES Games are officially open!

The opening ceremony kicked off at 4pm on May 31, with a word of welcome from our principal, Mr. Dillenschneider. Madame Christmann, Consul General of France in Düsseldorf, then took the floor, followed by Mr. Blondel, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy and Director of the Institut Français, and Mr. Hintszche, representative of the Düsseldorf City Council.

Each of them emphasized the importance of sport in our lives, how it helps to build communities, forge solidarity, change mentalities and forge friendships across racial and ethnic boundaries. On this occasion, they invited participants to honor the values of sport such as fair play, team spirit and respect.

The official speeches were rounded off by our sports teachers, Mr Gallard and Mr Van Hamme, who also warmly thanked all the participants, students and their sports teachers, sponsors, guests and officials.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of each delegation.
After a short parade, they stopped in front of their banners, which they unfurled, thus discovering the magnificent representations of their towns: The paintings were made by pupils from the following classes: CE2A, CM1A, CM1B, CM2A, CM2B, 5ème, 6ème,4ème,3ème and Seconde, as a sign of welcome.
The pupils were supervised throughout the project by our colleague, Mr. Ganneron.

The European flame, the sign of the official opening, was lit and all the students, under the direction of our music teacher, Madame Mathiot, sang the games anthem, specially created for the occasion.

Despite the cold and rain, a warm and motivated atmosphere prevailed, and all participants made the ceremony a wonderful moment of sharing.

We wish everyone courage and determination, and may the best win!

… the important thing is, of course, to take part…
